Part two of our adventure begins now with building that caravan foundation. Today will be going over programs, places to train and bare minimum for making all kinds of gains. Will just start with two programs for simplicity which are Strong Lifts 5x5 and Starting Strength. There are other plans as well that you could choose such as 5/3/1 Beyond, Mad Cow, Ice Cream Fitness, Sheiko's Method and more, however for this we are starting with the core basics and I'll link a site called powerliftingtowin.com that has a very indepth review of all these programs.

Strong Lifts 5 x 5: Free, Free and Good Foundation Starter

Strong Lifts is a free program that goes over the core 3 lifts and how to perform each compound barbell movement. They provide a nice series of instructions on how to perform the 3 core lifts and as well what would be the wrong way to perform that movement.  Strong Lifts is good for those looking for basic strength gains an a structured program. However, it does have flaws such as program progression which is linear and regulation for when to de-load for your body to recover.  It also is not designed for those looking into other strength sports and sometimes can be misleading with the overall mission it tries to enchant onto the lifter.

Starting Strength: You Pay For Gains And Good Form

Starting Strength is a program that has always been controversial in the powerlifting and strength community.  Many rip on it for not being a real strength program while others praise it for what it can do for novice lifters.  In my humble opinion I found it to be a valuable resource to have and really hammered down the way a lifter should lift.  It gives indepth examples on how to perform the lift and ques to watch for when you lift. It has pictures and illustration along with an online community and podcast as well all under the name Starting Strength.  The cons this program has are that is geared not to really any sport and is really not meant to be used solely in powerlifting since it does incorporate some lifts like the clean which are not important in that sport.

Conclusion

I know this was a short post and gives a quick over of some programs.  Been looking into other programs that would be even more advantageous.  Until more research can be done I will see you all next time.
